INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
WHAT TO EXPECT
If you think working together might support your goals, contact me to set up a phone consultation or first session. After that, we’ll get to know each other and your healing (and empowering) process will begin. At the beginning we’ll meet weekly to build trust between us and create momentum for your growth. Each session is 50 minutes— we’ll talk, notice body sensations, process emotions, and find practical insights and strategies. I’ll usually leave you with something to focus on or try so your process can continue until we meet next.
Change isn’t linear, and it can sometimes be slow. Many of my clients spend 6-18 months with me, depending on their needs and goals. If you want to see lasting results, it’s important to stay with the process. You’ll put time, energy and money into this process, but things will get better and change.
NEEDS I SUPPORT
LIFE TRANSITIONS
I love to support clients in the liminal space between a big ending and new beginning. This work often includes grief, uncertainty, and creativity with what to invite or create next. Some common life transitions I work with include: identity or values shifts, relocating, changing jobs/careers, romantic relationship loss, friendship loss, becoming a new parent, becoming a parent to a special needs or adopted child, and loss of a loved one.
ADHD
Those living with ADHD are working hard to find ways to adapt to a world that works contrary to many of their needs. Depending on where you are in your ADHD journey, we may do processing about your diagnosis, unravel beliefs you hold about yourself, or brainstorm practical tools and changes you can make to help you in your struggles.
DEPRESSION
Contrary to popular belief, depression is more about not feeling at all than feeling sad. I’ll create a safe container for you to feel your feelings, exploring where they come from and how to move through them. I’ll also provide you with practical strategies to help you begin to feel better.
ANXIETY
Anxiety is an emotion that has to do with worry about the future, so we’ll work on grounding you in the present. We’ll also explore and process why some things have anxious energy attached to them, what you might be believing about these things, and what may actually be true. I’ll also provide you with practical strategies to help you calm your body in the moment.
RELATIONSHIP CONCERNS
Good relationships are at the center of good mental health. When there are challenges in our closest relationships, it can feel as if our center of gravity has been thrown off. We may struggle to know who we are, how hard to work in a relationship before calling it quits, and how to build the skills to stay (and rebuild trust and connection). I work with clients on all of these issues.
SELF-CARE + SELF-KINDNESS
Increasing self-kindness is at the center of my work. Learning to speak more gently to yourself, learning to value yourself more, letting yourself have fun and enjoy pleasure for their own sake, and learning to hold boundaries around who and what has access to you are all important parts of healing.
IDENTITY
There are points in life where we don’t recognize ourselves (or parts of ourselves) anymore. Something inside or around us has shifted so significantly that we feel confused about how to move forward. Pieces of our identity have changed or been lost. Identity work can also be helpful for young adults just beginning to get to know themselves for the first time. I work with you to explore your strengths, weaknesses and desires.
CREATING A LIFE YOU LOVE
Sometimes there might be nothing “wrong,” but you just have a feeling something’s not quite right. We’ll work to get to the root of what that is, and what you might want to get rid of or invite in. Then we can work together on how you can go about this process.
