FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN SESSIONS?

Sessions focus on whatever feels most helpful to you to process and explore. Generally I’ll follow your lead as I ask questions, but sometimes I will be more directive in my approach if something is important for me to know (for example, at the beginning when I’m getting background information). I’ll never skip over something that feels important to you, or force you to talk about anything you don’t want to. When sessions are difficult, I’ll often leave you with a gentle question about how you can nurture yourself so you can be proactive about self-kindness when things are hard.

Q: WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?

I work with clients within Washington state. All sessions are held over video call via a secure telehealth platform. Appointments are 50 minutes long and available Monday through Friday, between 8am and 2pm (availability varies). Most of my clients have a regularly scheduled appointment time and begin meeting weekly, as therapy tends to be most impactful with this regularity.

Q: WHAT IS EXPECTED OF CLIENTS?

Therapy is an active process of creating healing, growth, and new patterns. I know clients lead busy lives, and therapy is just one part of it. But therapy is most transformative when clients find time to reflect, try new things, and feel their feelings. I expect clients to actively engage with the process of therapy, to be honest with me (and with themselves), and to treat me with respect as a person and a professional.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR RATE?

My rate is $235 per 50 minute session. In an effort to help with accessibility, I have a handful of lower fee spots. If this is needed, please ask if this is available when you inquire about a phone consultation.

Q: CAN I USE INSURANCE?

I’m out of network, but can give you a super bill to submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. Please contact your insurance provider to determine the rules and restrictions around your mental health coverage.

If you need to verify out-of-network coverage or request preauthorization from your health insurance provider before we meet, my license number is LH61103884 and my NPI is 1912508961.

Some questions to ask your insurance provider are:

  • Do I have outpatient mental health coverage?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • What percentage of my bill will be covered for services with an out-of-network provider?

  • How many sessions will be covered per calendar year?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF WE AREN’T A GOOD FIT?

If we decide to work together I commit to the process with you, and will not stop our work together without good clinical or ethical reason.

The research shows the best indicator of a good outcome in therapy is the relationship between the therapist and client. I’m not an expert in everything, and there may be a need that comes up that is best treated by another therapist. If we discover at any point I’m not the right fit for you, I’ll do my best to help you find someone who is.

Q: WHAT ARE RESOURCES FOR SUICIDE SUPPORT?

That we are here is a huge affirmation; somehow life needed us and wanted us to be.” -John O’Donohue

Q: WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO DURING DOWNTIME?

I love walking my dog by the water, hiking, snowshoeing, moving into all available sun-beams, learning, reading poetry (shout-out to David Whyte + Rilke), and eating tacos.
